SUMMARY:Exhibition "Salt in the Wound\, Gold in the Vault"
DESCRIPTION:Artists: Oscar Cueto\, Helena Wittmann\, Fehras Publishing Practices\, Davide Degano\, Helena Tahir \nCurator: Ilija Prokopiev \nThe exhibition Salt in the Wound\, Gold in the Vault\, hosted in Slovenia\, brings together artists from across Europe in a powerful exploration of colonialism’s legacy—past and present. Featuring voices from a range of European countries\, the exhibition presents a dialogue between two critical artistic perspectives: those who confront colonial histories through personal or inherited experience and those who\, while not direct inheritors of colonial trauma\, engage deeply with its cultural and moral weight.\nTogether\, these artists reimagine how we remember\, resist\, and reframe colonial legacies—offering anti-racist\, feminist\, and decolonial interpretations that challenge dominant historical narratives. Through installations\, videos\, and multimedia work\, the exhibition invites audiences to critically reflect on Europe’s colonial entanglements and the ways they continue to shape identity\, migration\, and power in the present day.

SUMMARY:Salt in the Wound\, Gold in the Vault
DESCRIPTION:As part of the exhibition Salt in the Wound\, Gold in the Vault\, an international Artist in Residence Program will take place from 5 to 19 November 2025 in Koper\, Slovenia. This dynamic two-week residency invites the artists to engage critically with the legacy of colonialism and its contemporary echoes through collaborative\, site-specific\, and community-oriented artistic practices. \n  \nThe residency will take place across the prominent cultural venues in Koper\, including the City Bell Tower\, Praetorian Palace\, Koper Regional Museum\, Central Library of Srečko Vilhar\, PiNA Koper\, and VUO Koper\, providing a rich and historically resonant backdrop for creative exploration and dialogue. \n  \nParticipating artists will propose and lead a series of workshops\, lectures\, artist talks\, and public interventions designed to promote exchange between local artists\, cultural workers\, university students\, and the broader Koper community. These events will serve as platforms for collective reflection on Europe’s colonial past and its ongoing impact on identity\, migration\, and systems of power. \n  \nRooted in the themes of the UNTOLD Europe project and its mission to amplify marginalized histories and voices\, the residency encourages transnational collaboration and community engagement. Artists are encouraged to use a participatory approach that contributes to a broader conversation on reparative justice and historical accountability in Europe. \n  \nThis residency is not only a space for artistic creation but also a laboratory of ideas and dialogue\, bridging art and civic imagination to build a more inclusive and critically aware future.

SUMMARY:Workshop “Colonial Narratives and EU Migration Policies”
DESCRIPTION:“Colonial Narratives and EU Migration Policies” workshop will be hosted by the European Centre for Populism Studies (ECPS) in Brussels on 21 October\, as part of the UNTOLD Europe project’s Work Package 3: Recognising Colonial Public Policies. The event will explore how dominant discourses surrounding migration and migrants in Europe continue to shape European policies\, often drawing on colonial narratives and legacies that still resonate in today’s political debates. \nWith a strong focus on human rights and gender dimensions\, the workshop will critically explore how these colonial-rooted discourses frame migrants\, reinforce hierarchies\, and normalise exclusion. At the same time\, it will provide space to imagine and articulate alternative narratives—ones that challenge these legacies and pave the way for fairer and more inclusive approaches to migration. \nBringing together scholars\, civil society actors\, and policy practitioners\, the workshop will not only foster dialogue but also work toward policy recommendations for EU decision-makers. By engaging diverse stakeholders\, Untold Europe seeks to amplify marginalised perspectives and contribute to more just and humane migration policies across the continent. \nTentative Programme (Highlights): \n\nIntroductory Presentation: Colonial continuities and human rights issues in EU migration policy\nStakeholder Roundtable: Perspectives from migrant leaders\, CSOs\, legal experts\, and policymakers\nSmall Group Discussions: Based on predefined case studies\nCollective Session: Interactive discussion on developing actionable recommendations for EU migration governance\nClosing Discussion: Pathways for raising awareness among stakeholders\n\n  \n
