The exhibition Salt in the Wound, Gold in the Vault, hosted in Slovenia, brings together artists from across Europe in a powerful exploration of colonialism’s legacy—past and present. Featuring voices from a range of European countries, the exhibition presents a dialogue between two critical artistic perspectives: those who confront colonial histories through personal or inherited experience and those who, while not direct inheritors of colonial trauma, engage deeply with its cultural and moral weight.
Together, these artists reimagine how we remember, resist, and reframe colonial legacies—offering anti-racist, feminist, and decolonial interpretations that challenge dominant historical narratives. Through installations, videos, and multimedia work, the exhibition invites audiences to critically reflect on Europe’s colonial entanglements and the ways they continue to shape identity, migration, and power in the present day.
